Sports Editor | The Breeze

  • The Breeze is James Madison University's student-run newspaper.

  • Named "Best All Around Non-Daily Student Newspaper" by the Society of Professional Journalists in 2015

  • During my three semesters as sports editor, I managed a team of 20 writers and delegated writing tasks for weekly sports content

  •  Designed and managed content and layout of sports section 

  • Extensively proofread and copy edited stories for clarity and accuracy of style

  • Created and maintained social media accounts on Instagram and Twitter for the sports section — grew accounts to over 1,000 followers

  • Key member of the transition team that ultimately made the decision to switch publishing platform to focus on web content

Practicum Student | MadiZONE HD Sports Net

  • As a production and content management intern, I assisted the Global Education department in the production process of all Sales Season 17 products

  • Created a website on company portal page, powered by Microsoft SharePoint, focused on resources for interns

  • Created and contributed content for the monthly technology newsletter, TechTalk

  • Created content for the technology blog geared towards acquainting colleagues with collaboration capabilities of Microsoft Office 2016

  • Conducted Quality Assurance checks on online learning systems, including WileyPLUS and WileyPLUS Learning Space

  • MadiZONE HD Sports Net is the online broadcast production platform utilized by JMU Athletics Communications

  • As a practicum student with MadiZONE, I Assisted JMU Athletics Director of Multimedia Communication with all aspects of MadiZONE online productions and broadcasts

  • Routinely interviewed student-athletes and coaches to create content for weekly radio shows on local radio networks and ESPN affiliates 

  • Conducted research and produced audio and written content to be used during MadiZONE online broadcasts

  • Responsible for administrative team duties such as scheduling, reserving fields, reserving referees, and organizing team events

  • Act as a player-coach along with three other Executive Board members. Together, we try to foster a community of socially responsible young men who are bettering themselves through the sport of lacrosse
