The Breeze, James Madison University's student-newspaper, was named the Best All-Around Non-Daily Student Newspaper by the Society of Professional Journalists.

I began writing for The Breeze during my freshman year. Since then I have written over 80 pieces, including: live JMU sporting event recaps, human interest features on student-athletes and distinguished professionals, social commentary, restaurant reviews and various news in the Harrisonburg and JMU community.

In 2014, I created a blog chronicling the season of the James Madison University Men's Lacrosse team. Maintaining a blog about the team was something I enjoyed doing, and was very well received by parents and friends of the team.

The site has grown to over 12,000 views in 3 years.

Works in this section include an academic research paper, a press release, a digital storytelling project, a pop-culture science article, and a video I made about graffiti culture in San Diego, CA.

These works are less newsworthy in nature and showcase my research abilities, video editing skills and narrative style of writing.

MadiZONE HD Sports Net is the online broadcast production platform utilized by JMU Athletics Communications.

As a practicum student with MadiZONE, I Assisted JMU Athletics Director of Multimedia Communication with all aspects of MadiZONE online productions and broadcasts. I routinely created audio files to be played on local radio sports shows and ESPN affiliates, as well as did color-commentary at women's volleyball, soccer and lacrosse matches.

As the Sports Editor, I designed the layout of the Sports section front and the subsequent "jump" pages. In this role I developed a level of proficiency in Adobe InDesign, as well as developed a creative style of designing that routinely attracted readers to the Sports section.

I also created each headline, deck and photo cutline for the pages. Please explore a sample of over 30 pages I designed.
